The Märklin Insider Club is turning 30 years old. To celebrate the anniversary year, two special editions of the class 44 locomotive in H0 and Z scale will be released. These powerful standard locomotives can only be ordered by members of the Märklin Insider Club.
Order deadline: April 30, 2023.
The prototype being described is a German Federal Railroad (DB) heavy freight locomotive, with road number 44 1315 and a type 2´2´T34 oil tender. The locomotive is represented in both Era III and Era VI and is located at the Märklineum in Göppingen, Germany.
The model locomotive is equipped with a motor featuring a bell-shaped armature, with all four driving axles being powered. It has dark wheel treads, valve gear, and side/drive rods, with finely detailed and fully functional valve gear and side/drive rods. The brakes, sanding pipes, etc. are also modelled. Inductive magnets are present on both sides of the locomotive, and the buffer plates are enlarged. The paint scheme and lettering are prototypical. The length over the buffers is approximately 112 mm / 4-3/8".
Additionally, a building kit made of architectural cardstock is included with the locomotive to model the original locomotive base on which road number 44 1315 is mounted. This allows for prototypical modelling of the current condition of the locomotive.

The prototype described is a German Federal Railroad (DB) class 44 heavy freight steam locomotive with a type 2´2´T30 tub-style tender. It has a black/red basic paint scheme, Witte smoke deflectors, dual headlights, smoke box with central locking, and no inductive magnet. The locomotive's road number is 44 1143 and it appears as it did around 1950.
The model of this locomotive features an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions. The locomotive also has controlled high-efficiency propulsion with a flywheel mounted in the boiler. It has 5 axles that are powered and traction tires. The locomotive and tender are mostly constructed of metal. The 7226 smoke unit can be installed in the locomotive. The dual headlights change over with the direction of travel and can be controlled digitally. The cab lighting, firebox flickering, and flickering at the ash pan can also be controlled separately in digital operation. Maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs are used for the lighting. There is a close coupling with a guide mechanism between the locomotive and tender. There is also a close coupler with an NEM pocket and a guide mechanism on the rear of the tender and on the front of the locomotive. The minimum radius for operation is 360 mm / 14-3/16". Protective sleeves for the piston rods, brake hoses, and imitation prototype couplers are included. The length over the buffers is 26 cm / 10-1/4".
