Operating overnight from New York to Chicago, the Broadway Limited was that train. Like most other Pennsy passenger trains, its cars were painted in muted colors of deep maroon red. Yet, inside, this train was the height of opulence with a variety of accommodations to suit the needs of the traveler. And the Broadway had strong competition, with the New York Central fielding the 20th Century Limited. But while the 20th Century Limited was bold in its cool two-tone gray and silver art deco livery, the Broadway was understated and elegant.
