One-time special series in 2002.
Large quantities of heavy heating oil were needed for the many oil-fired steam locomotives. The German Federal Railroad purchased these 4-axle high-capacity tank cars for this purpose. The good insulation of the inner tank and the sheathing with protective sheet metal riveted on enabled transport of the oil even during the colder period of the year without any worry about the oil becoming too viscous. These cars ensured trouble-free train operations by supplying the fueling stations and maintenance facilities with heavy heating oil all year around.
