Product description

Model: Comes with a Digital decoder, C-Sine high-efficiency propulsion and a sound effects generator. 3 axles powered. 4 traction tires. Headlights and marker lights will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. Interior lighting and horn sound effects as well as acceleration and braking delay can be controlled digitally with the 6021 Control Unit. Special coupling between the cars of the train that provides a tightly closed transition between cars. Reproduction of the Scharfenberg coupler (non-working) at the ends of the train. Total length over the couplers 93.5 cm / 36-13/16".

This model is being produced in a one-time series for the anniversary "100 Years of the Swiss Federal Railways".

Prototype information

The RAm TEE I was a joint development of the Dutch (NS) and the Swiss (SBB) railroad companies. This TEE powered rail car train became a legend due to its striking design and varied history. The five trains were used on the routes Zürich-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Paris and Paris-Brussels, later Zürich-Paris and also Zürich-Munich. From 1957 to 1974 the Edelweiß served as a TEE on the route Zürich-Amsterdam that took it through five countries. The RAm I on the route Paris-Brussels held the record at that time as the fastest regularly scheduled train in Europe with an average speed of 113.5 km/h or about 71 mph. As a four-car train the RAm I required only one powered end unit. Two 16-cylinder diesel motors with each 1,000 horsepower powered two generators. They produced the current for four electric traction motors that powered the outer wheel sets of both three-axle trucks. The three passenger cars, a compartment car, dining car and a cab control car, offered travel comfort for 114 passengers. Our model of the RAm I is appearing as the prototype originally looked and is being brought out on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Swiss Federal Railways SBB.
