Italian names such as "Capri", "Lido" or "Adria" evoked a longing for the South, sun, and sea in the Fifties and Sixties. A Wolfenbüttel company played cleverly with the association and transferred the evocative names to its products: In 1948, Gerhard Kubetschek had founded the audio furniture firm Kuba. During the period of the Economic Miracle his company grew constantly, and his music cabinets conquered more than just German households. Kuba also insisted on German Federal Railroad freight cars for safe transport of these bulky pieces of furniture.
