Succinct. The "Schwerin" and "Nürnberg" gondolas were built in large numbers starting about 1910 for the State Railroad Freight Car Association and then later for the German State Railroad. The superstructure built of steel and the short chassis made these cars very sturdy and allowed a full load even with heavy bulk freight. Many of these cars with an almost toy-like look were acquired by the German Federal Railroad after 1945.
